The University of New Mexico is seeking proposals for the epoxy coating and waterproofing of the North Tunnel of the Johnson Gym. The tunnel project is just one of many renovations that the university has planned for the expansion and renewal of the Johnson Center on its Albuquerque campus.

The scope of work consists of the application of a new three-coat stucco system and a new waterproofing system to the staircase and ramp on and under an existing tunnel between the Natatorium and Old Johnson Pool. Demolition and replacement of existing handrails at stairs and ramp will also be required.
Bids are due Feb. 13.
Scope of Work
The project will require repairs to loose, cracking and weathered areas of concrete down to the wall footer. The awarded contractor will be required to prep ramp surfaces to receive waterproofing treatments by grinding existing stucco five inches above the top of the deck. Once the surface is smooth, the contractor will install an epoxy-based floor primer and cold-fluid-applied polyurethane waterproofing system.
The contractor will ensure that all the connections of the walls to the deck, piping, conduits, ducts and any other air leakage or water intrusion has been properly sealed. The chosen contractor will then apply a new three-coat stucco system to the walls of the existing stairs and ramp area. The reinstallation of backfill and pavement will be required after waterproofing is complete.
This project will require that the contractor clean all metal handrails and supports by grinding or blasting and coated with an exterior rust-resistant coatings application. Any additional touch-up painting upon final cleaning will also be required.
This project is estimated to cover 1200 square feet.
