The City of Saginaw is seeking contractors for rehabilitating the Park Center Elevated Storage Tank, located in Saginaw, Texas.
Bids are due Feb. 13. The project is estimated at $800,000.
Scope of Work
This project involves rehabilitating and recoating the interior and exterior surfaces of the existing 750,000-gallon elevated water storage tank.
Contractors will oversee abrasive blast-cleaning of interior tank surfaces to Near White standards (SSPC-SP 10). The interior will then be coated with a zinc-rich urethane primer, epoxy intermediate coat and epoxy finish coat.

Exterior tank surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6). Exterior surfaces will receive an epoxy primer, epoxy intermediate coat and acrylic-polyurethane finish coat. The owner-approved coating brands for tank surfaces include Sherwin-Williams, Tnemec and Carboline.
The work also includes hand/power tool-cleaning (SSPC-SP 2 or SSPC-SP3) and coating steel and ductile pipe, valve, pump and motor surfaces with an epoxy primer and polyurethane finish. Galvanized steel surfaces will be pressure-washed and coated with an acrylic primer and finish. Steel door and electrical box surfaces will be pressure-washed and coated with an alkyd-resin primer and polyurethane finish. Previously coated concrete surfaces will be power-washed (at 4,000 psi) and waterproofed. The owner-approved brand for piping and equipment surfaces is Sherwin-Williams.

Contractors will also oversee the application of a polyurethane elastomeric sealant to all un-welded portions of interior roof plate seams. The owner-approved brand for the sealant is the Sika Corporation.
The work involves removing lead-based coatings. Containment and dehumidification are required. An SSPC-QP1 certification is also required.
